The Haynes book which usually do maintenance for cars, they have been doing many new topics including space and second WWII tanks and many more war related books. This one is</span><i style="font-family: times;"> “Napoleon’s Military Machine” </i><span style="font-family: times;">which is about the daily life of The Grande Armie. Looking forward to reading this one. I also had two packets of <i>ACB brushes</i> for fine detail work. I used to get these fine detailed brushes from the Works, but they no longer do them. </span><span style="font-family: times;">I also have a mini glue gun with more glue sticks for my buildings that I hope to start making soon. Also in the picture is some <i>AllGame Terrain </i>bushes winter mix. Non related items was a DVD box set and some chocolate. </span></p>General Reevehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192104069618143683noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8853155833487877670.post-24378007085194051492023-10-16T12:06:00.000+01:002023-10-16T12:06:04.595+01:00SELWG 23<p><span style="font-family: times;">This is the first year that I have been to three different Wargame Shows. I was toying about going to North London to see <b>SELWG 23</b> as the last time that I went to one of theirs was in 2019 the very last one at Crystal Palace Sports Centre. </span><span style="font-family: times;">As there were a few good reports from last years event, I finally thought why not and go and see if it’s as good as 2019.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">I decided to travel there by car and got stuck in a few traffic jams, one of them was being the Blackwall Tunnel. But a slow progress up the A12 and a couple of rounder-bouts later, I arrived just after noon at the Lee Valley Athletic Centre in brilliant sunshine. I was hoping to get there before 11.30am. No parking problems at all which was great.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Once I had paid my entry fee, I entered the Sports Hall. Yes my second show of the year, but I thought that I should try other shows and see what they can offer. </span><span style="font-family: times;">When I reached the Medway Park Sports Centre the car park was full as there was an college Sports day on as well, but I managed to find a parking spot and it was free.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">The venue was right at the back of the sports centre and it was easy to find your way there. Paid my £4 entry fee, which I must say is a really good deal, I entered the hall. This was around 11.30am and it seemed busy. </span><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4T1cRrYw-Ged2S1-wgZj7bBDFM2suoOARn_gHPmJEzWN1aMgHIkuC6laxMHUzxFWDovu1Xaz2CTJvRRORiJbdrw5gki6_iMVdQrkXJBlAd9ulNANTTO5K_PUC1qNPhL1qPG5TEmkjW9LuB8X-7YwiAsZjOssDzaZXt1RQa7r4oj6xnKOu4DCigkDe2g/s4000/20230610_113843.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4T1cRrYw-Ged2S1-wgZj7bBDFM2suoOARn_gHPmJEzWN1aMgHIkuC6laxMHUzxFWDovu1Xaz2CTJvRRORiJbdrw5gki6_iMVdQrkXJBlAd9ulNANTTO5K_PUC1qNPhL1qPG5TEmkjW9LuB8X-7YwiAsZjOssDzaZXt1RQa7r4oj6xnKOu4DCigkDe2g/s320/20230610_113843.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><span style="font-family: times;"><div><span style="font-family: times;"><br /></span></div>So first thing was to look around the trade stands and there was plenty to offer buyers. After there were no 20mm plastic soldiers on sale at Salute I found a stand that sold mostly plastic figures, called 1-72 Model Figures, so out came my short shopping list and brought myself three boxes of Hat 1/72</span><span style="vertical-align: super;">nd</span><span style="font-family: times;"> figures. They are the French in Greatcoats, Brunswick Avantgarde and Prussian Volunteer Jaegers.</span><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">As it was a lovely day, I went outside to have my lunch. Now the thing here is that there are no facilities for you to sit down and eat/drink which on such a large building seemed funny. But I went outside and watched the athletics while having lunch. Once finished I went back into the hall and boy was it hot in there, but I started to look at the tables layout. There were a hand full of demonstration games and a nice area where people were selling their second hand goods. There were 12 wargaming tables, some really small and some very large. This is where I meet the Posties, Ray and Big Lee. Lovely to see and talk to them again. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">They had a game on called a “Skirmish at St Frances Cove 1784” The game went well for the smugglers I believe. I have not been to a wargaming show since October 2019 at SELWG (Crystal palace) So I thought that it was about time to go to my first one since then, after all celebrating 50 years of wargaming is such an achievement. <i>Well done Warlords.</i></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Left my house at about 10.00 am on a chilly Spring day. Started the journey first by bus and then onto the Queen Elizabeth line. I arrived at Excel London and joined a long queue which went down very fast and was inside the hall by about 10.40.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Having not been to a show as large as this for some while, it was so nice to see how busy the show was. It did have a short shopping list that I took with me but soon found out that I was not going to get what I needed. So visiting the trade stands first which there was not many, as I always do, it became clear that the main supply of figures were in fact 28 mm. I could not find any traders with HaT or Selects 20 mm figures. Oh well maybe at SELWG later this year. </span><span style="font-family: times;">Going around the wargaming tables, there was a lot of very good layouts and I must say that there were loads of demonstration games going on which were always seem to be </span><span style="font-family: times;">busy</span><span style="font-family: times;">. </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">At 1 o’clock I met up with the Bloggers meet and it was nice to see the faces of some that I followed. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLJ09lNjL7IIxGmRrqHNbKbjamz85LYD2Gn--gS2TelV_aoYS0ghmQkYYa5tE3G81vmS6CFydVI5D_PLgvBvFBYNPIZpi0eZQIbtC208iJRYhQmxiwI2Opa9lQYLvnTSp8Cb5k83ob3_JBuMWA6hLO_EAFPpNFgC2n8OyvbNmbpnHGA6n52Mw26Lyd6A/s5184/IMG_2206.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3888" data-original-width="5184" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLJ09lNjL7IIxGmRrqHNbKbjamz85LYD2Gn--gS2TelV_aoYS0ghmQkYYa5tE3G81vmS6CFydVI5D_PLgvBvFBYNPIZpi0eZQIbtC208iJRYhQmxiwI2Opa9lQYLvnTSp8Cb5k83ob3_JBuMWA6hLO_EAFPpNFgC2n8OyvbNmbpnHGA6n52Mw26Lyd6A/s320/IMG_2206.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Picture from Bob Cordery</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: times;"></span></div><span style="font-family: times;"><br /></span><p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">I was slightly disappointed that I could not spend my cash but I am so glad that I went and had a good day there. you all and let’s hope that this year will be even better for us all. Well 2022
became another tough year with the <b><i>Coronavirus</i></b> still
hanging around as with the war in the Ukraine and don’t forget about the cost
of living is still rising.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Wargame shows are mainly
coming back to normal, so fingers crossed for this year that I can get to see
one of them. </span><span style="font-family: times;">The output of plastic figures
have all but dried up for my period but once again hope, that there will be a
few new Napoleonic sets for me this year fingers crossed.</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">On the painting front, I have
failed to complete any units again last year. It seemed that I did not have any
hobby time, so I must change that for this year. On the 17th August
2020 I stated painting the 2nd Dragoon (Scots Greys) but they
have been on the back burner ever since. But once the New Year is over, it’s my
intentions this year is to finish off the 2nd Dragoon (Scots
Greys) and complete some odds and ends that have been stored away for many
years. I will also like to start painting some more regiments but we will see
what happens.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p>
<span style="font-family: times;">So no New Year Resolutions
from me again this year. If you look at my performance last year it was slightly
better on my blog for postings. So thank you so much for looking at my
blog over last year but hope that this year there will be more posts for you to
read. </span></p>General Reevehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192104069618143683noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8853155833487877670.post-84777054550805480172022-12-29T18:44:00.005+00:002022-12-29T18:47:15.438+00:00Presents to Self<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrsSR8cPcLoTWB69sLoP1xgG4cylOv2QjF22oJFvKCwyqF2JmFkj_FAAIzv7TrNo25HiKXDzjWAjBL7VA0vH9ulXM3ycqh8hmHuGA8tj1XKXJtIe5s81GLbCB6VymOWKlmGokVKm_lYG_lXjm_Eda1Fq82Dpc1X3CX8spm9bjSRbLtDNCK9PN5Bc15kw/s300/Merchants%20House.webp" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="299" data-original-width="300" height="299" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrsSR8cPcLoTWB69sLoP1xgG4cylOv2QjF22oJFvKCwyqF2JmFkj_FAAIzv7TrNo25HiKXDzjWAjBL7VA0vH9ulXM3ycqh8hmHuGA8tj1XKXJtIe5s81GLbCB6VymOWKlmGokVKm_lYG_lXjm_Eda1Fq82Dpc1X3CX8spm9bjSRbLtDNCK9PN5Bc15kw/s1600/Merchants%20House.webp" width="300" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: times;">I might not be doing much in

another very difficult one for me, as I once again have lost my painting mojo.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">With the war still going on
in the Ukraine and now it seems that HaT in America have given up producing any
new figures, my armies and my hobby seems to be dead at this point, as there is
nothing to look forward too. I should consider on go to a wargame show next
year as I have not been to one since 2019. I would love to start doing a
campaign at home, but my house is too small to do so.</span><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">After doing so well in 2020
with my painting it all came to a halt in August of that year. I did start
painting my British 2nd Dragoons (Scots Greys) and I am near finishing nine
horses with twelve troopers. But they have remained on my painting table for
such a long time now I wonder if I will ever finish them. </span><span style="font-family: times;">I have also failed to do
anything on my blog this year but hope to do somethings for next year once again.
So many thanks for those who take a look at my blog now and again. I have had a

Copenhagen was the Duke's war horse, which he most famously rode at the Battle
of Waterloo. Copenhagen was born in 1808 and was named in honour of the British
victory at the Second Battle of Copenhagen. Copenhagen was of mixed Thoroughbred
and Arabian parentage. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">He stood 15 hands high and
had a muscular physique on a small compact frame in fact he was a racing horse.
He was bread by the Derby winner John Bull and his sire Meteor having finished
second in the Derby in 1786. Copenhagen did race in England for a short period,
winning just two races and finishing at least third in nine races out of his 12
career starts.</span><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">The then General Grosvenor
sold Copenhagen to Sir Charles Vane in 1812 and was sent to Lisbon in 1813 with
a contingent of other horses due to Vane's service as an adjutant-general in
the Peninsular War. When Sir Charles left Spain to join the Allied armies in
Germany, Copenhagen was sold to Colonel Charles Wood (Colonel Gordon, who died
at Waterloo) for 200 or 250 guineas, The Colonel bought the five year old Copenhagen
and another horse for the Duke of Wellington. Wellington rode him throughout
the Peninsular Campaign, particularly at Vitoria and in the Pyrenees but he had
some fifteen other horses from which to choose.</span><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">Wellington described him as
"a dark chestnut with two white heels, [he was] a hollow-backed, powerful
horse" but reportedly had "bad shoulders." Copenhagen allegedly
"never refused his corn" but had an unusual habit of eating while
lying down. Wellington said of Copenhagen, "There may have been many
faster horses, no doubt many handsomer, but for bottom and endurance I never
saw his fellow." His "enduring qualities" were often attributed
to his "Arabian blood."</span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;"><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Iz071ouKKsFL_mmZEUvUN1-RKPyEzKC_G6omrwL70khL95CaZPX9rGRuGqjUCuOUHuSOOoM0kGfFcJZ2nZ_jcYTy95NMMannEj2Pb41knXwUejfqurs9sHBkudiRYjPglYiCHXHlKyReFf_sbuc9rmngjRywGQbMKx4ImbsBcqwb2ScrZFnfpEm8zA/s303/The_Duke_of_Wellington_on_Copenhagen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="background-color: white; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="303" data-original-width="200" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-Iz071ouKKsFL_mmZEUvUN1-RKPyEzKC_G6omrwL70khL95CaZPX9rGRuGqjUCuOUHuSOOoM0kGfFcJZ2nZ_jcYTy95NMMannEj2Pb41knXwUejfqurs9sHBkudiRYjPglYiCHXHlKyReFf_sbuc9rmngjRywGQbMKx4ImbsBcqwb2ScrZFnfpEm8zA/s1600/The_Duke_of_Wellington_on_Copenhagen.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #202122; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.3704px; text-align: left;">Wellington on Copenhagen, painted by </span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Lawrence" style="background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: none; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; color: #0645ad; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.3704px; text-align: left; text-decoration-line: none;" title="Thomas Lawrence">Thomas Lawrence</a><span style="color: #202122; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 12.3704px; text-align: left;">.</span></span></td></tr></tbody></table><br /></span><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Becoming his favourite,
Copenhagen was the Duke's mount in the Battle of Waterloo which actually made
the horse’s reputation. Wellington rode Copenhagen in a number of battles.
Before Waterloo he took him on his hazardous ride to Wavre to liaise with
Marshal Blücher. during the Battle of Waterloo, Copenhagen carried the Duke's for
17 hours continuously during the battle. Immediately after the battle, from
which Wellington emerged uninjured, Wellington dismounted and patted Copenhagen
on the flank, causing the horse to kick towards the Duke's head, which the Duke
narrowly avoided. </span><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;">Copenhagen continued to be

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">The Duke continued to ride
Copenhagen in parades and other ceremonial events after the battle. Hair from
the horse was made into jewellery. The horse was retired to the Duke's
Stratfield Saye House and lived as a pensioner there for the remainder of his
long life in 1828. Copenhagen was said to, "liked being noticed" and
"kissed hands and ate his apples with all possible grace." Copenhagen
died from reportedly due to indulging in too many sugary "dainties"
such as "sponge cakes, bath buns and chocolate creams," but he most
likely died due to his advanced age.</span><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">Despite becoming deaf and
blind, he was given the very best care until his death. He died on 12 February
1836 at the age of 28 years. He was buried very early in the morning the next
day with full military honours in the Ice-House Paddock at the Duke's country
residence, Stratfield Saye House. The Duke personally witnessed the horse's
burial and reportedly "flew into a most violent passion" when he
noticed that one of Copenhagen's hooves had been cut off as a souvenir. The
Duke reportedly exhumed Copenhagen's body a few months after his death to
retrieve the other hooves as keepsakes, but "his three remaining hoofs had
rotted away." The pilfered hoof was eventually recovered. According to one
source, a farmer bought the hoof for a little over three shillings and returned
the hoof directly to the Duke. In another account, a servant confessed to the
Duke's son many years after the incident to taking the hoof, stating that at
the time, "None of us imagined that the first Duke would trouble his head
about the carcase of the horse." The returned hoof was later made into an
ink-stand by the second Duke.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">Copenhagen was buried without
a headstone, and a few years after his death, the Duke was asked by the United
Services Museum to disinter his body so that Copenhagen's skeleton could be
publicly displayed alongside the skeleton of Napoleon's horse Marengo. The Duke
refused and claimed that he did not "know for sure where Copenhagen was
buried," The paddock where he was buried at one time had "a noble
cluster of elms in the centre" and his grave was once surrounded by a small
railing.</span><span style="font-family: times; font-size: large;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times; font-size: medium;">His grave site is marked with
a marble headstone that stands under a Turkey Oak planted in 1843 by the elder
Duke's housekeeper Mrs. Apostles. A lead plaque with the inscription and
"some coins of George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria" were buried
at the grave site. The inscription reads:<o:p></o:p></span></p>

seeing any more new products for Napoleonic Wars in the coming year once again?
We have had two years of the Coronavirus around the world which slowed down
production to a walking pace and now a war in the Ukraine. The two biggest
plastic companies have stopped working but for how long?</span><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;"><b>HaT </b>in America<b> </b>have not published any new updates on
their web site since October last year and it seems to be dead even to their forum
users. This is a great shame as I was hoping for the Prussian limbers and wagons
that they had at design stage years ago. They are the only Napoleonic set that
I need from them at the moment. Saying that, I had hoped for some other new sets
coming from them this year such as like the Dutch/Belgian Carabineers or some
Hanoverian Infantry.</span><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">With Russia going to war with
the Ukraine this month, <b>Strelets</b> have
halted production for now but they are still in the process of producing a load
of the War of the Spanish Succession figures. Their forum is very much alive and well. Although they have brought out
some new figures for the Napoleonic Wars over the last two years, they are not
for my Waterloo period. I do not like the standing possess that they have done either
for the Prussian cavalry or for the Infantry sets in that matter. I do like my
figures in action possess.</span><span style="font-family: times;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times;">So it could be another year
without anything new for me. This could be why I am having great trouble in
painting anything these days. I have just lost my painting mojo at the moment
but hope that with spring in the air and sunnier days ahead, that the spark
will come back to me. It’s been nearly two years since I finished painting a set
of figures. </span></p>General Reevehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192104069618143683noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8853155833487877670.post-79965858073379161862022-01-23T16:44:00.004+00:002022-02-22T18:21:53.164+00:00Sharpe TV Series<p style="text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiZfvI5SttoB5Rpd753og3va_YZBfLrepdM4PCwW558PbYMsP2uIW8CnaoBlM5im1k68A_aFND9GqbdqTlF4P_T-tf6Q5sz3zoiv_dJfR5MGJpKhGg0FPAFzKFvP7jdFkYZfJXydQWk_NzWRKygRYlP9IIRxyre2uCq89x3g7jbYVypo92tB6GXXlkNeg=s420" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="420" data-original-width="300" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiZfvI5SttoB5Rpd753og3va_YZBfLrepdM4PCwW558PbYMsP2uIW8CnaoBlM5im1k68A_aFND9GqbdqTlF4P_T-tf6Q5sz3zoiv_dJfR5MGJpKhGg0FPAFzKFvP7jdFkYZfJXydQWk_NzWRKygRYlP9IIRxyre2uCq89x3g7jbYVypo92tB6GXXlkNeg=w143-h200" width="143" /></a></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Sharpe's Rifles was the first

some kind of normality. Well 2021 became the second year with the <b><i>Coronavirus</i></b>
but life is still trying to get back to a near normal. Wargame shows were
cancelled for the most of the year but they do seem to be coming back, so
fingers crossed for this year. <o:p></o:p></span></span></p>

2020 I stated painting the 2nd Dragoon (Scots Greys) but they
have been on the back burner since then. After the New Year is over, it’s my
intentions this year is to finish off the 2nd Dragoon (Scots

everyone, but now that we have had the vaccine life is nowhere near normal as hoped
as a new variant hits the world. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">After doing so well in 2020 with my painting it all came to
a halt in the August of that year. I did start painting my British 2nd
Dragoons (Scots Greys) and I am near finishing nine horses with twelve
troopers. But they have remained on my painting table for such a long time now as
the enthusiasm seems to have left me to finish them off. But with another
lockdown looming after New Year, this could be what I need to restart that
spark.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Also I think that with figure
companies not producing anything that I want for the Waterloo period in recent
years, there’s nothing to look forward too.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

hope to do somethings for next year. So many thanks for those who take a look

is fantastic with is nearly 20,000 hits more than last year’s total.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

the favorite mount of Napoleon. He was named after the Battle of Marengo.
Napoleons horse was imported to France from Egypt following the Battle of
Abukir in 1799 as a six-year-old. The light grey Arabian was only 14.1 hands
high, probably bred at the famous El Naseri Stud. He was a reliable horse,
steady, and courageous mount. Marengo was wounded eight times in his career,
and carried the Emperor in the Battle of Austerlitz, Battle of Jena-Auerstedt,
Battle of Wagram, and the Battle of Waterloo. He also was frequently used in
the 80-mile gallops from Valladolid to Burgos, which he often completed in five
hours. As one of 52 horses in Napoleon's personal stud, Marengo fled with these
horses when it was raided by Russians in 1812, surviving the retreat from
Moscow; however, the stallion was captured in 1815 at the Battle of Waterloo by
William Petre, 11th Baron Petre, after Napoleon fled the battlefield in a

when you ran out of model paint that you could just go to a shop and purchase
what you wanted? That now seems a luxury these days during lockdown. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">But I felt that I should give
an update on my painting of the “Scots Greys”. Ending of last year I did manage
to buy some paints that I thought that I might need before yet another
lockdown, but how wrong was I. I had painted little bits and pieces of both
troopers and horses, but it was not till after Christmas that I found that I
needed some difference grey colour for their trousers and horse. The one pot
of old grey paint that I was using dried out and had to be thrown away. But I
did not have any spares in my paint box. So the project has come to a complete
stop. I did not want to start another project, so after scratching my head, I
came up with I’ll paint the top half of the troopers and what I could of their
horses and hope that we can come out of lockdown sometime in March to buy that
tin of paint.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Now why do I not buy online?
I hear you say, well that is it will cost about £5 to post one tin of paint. So
as there is no urgency for the paint I’ll wait for the shops to reopen and stock
up on different grey paints. </span><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><o:p></o:p></span></p><br /><p></p>General Reevehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192104069618143683noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8853155833487877670.post-89421617630206415362021-01-01T10:40:00.003+00:002021-01-01T10:44:21.241+00:00Happy New Year from the General<p style="text-align: center;"> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJDpIGU2XQzXXj0nQ5bwSV97pslwiEGS9Y4AYtjL5V2t-SoQZnUjRA62t0Y39wbLA8SFWEy43DnsW9HSnABDd89_4cvA3uTkuha3hh89FeYDwwZwZtZ7YEK0337QxXlvW4haJ6mKtG5Qu2/s1003/2021.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="669" data-original-width="1003" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJDpIGU2XQzXXj0nQ5bwSV97pslwiEGS9Y4AYtjL5V2t-SoQZnUjRA62t0Y39wbLA8SFWEy43DnsW9HSnABDd89_4cvA3uTkuha3hh89FeYDwwZwZtZ7YEK0337QxXlvW4haJ6mKtG5Qu2/s320/2021.jpeg" width="320" /></a></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">A Very “<b>Happy New Year”</b> to you all and let’s hope that this year we can get
back to some kind of normality. Well 2020 is going to be a year remembered for
the all the wrong things. Wargame shows were cancelled for which I have missed
very much last year. The output of plastic figures seemed to have done very
well considering what has happen across the world. Hopefully it will continue
and hope that there will be a few new Napoleonic sets for me this year?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Here in the UK we were put in
our first lockdown from March for four months due to the Coronavirus first hit
the UK. With not being able to go out and see family and friends, I set myself
up for the <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;">Coronavirus Challenge.</i></b> This challenge was to make me sit down
and paint my Napoleonic armies. In months that followed I managed to paint a
total of 94 figures completing two regiments. The first was the British 32nd
foot followed by the Prussian 1st Pomerania reserve infantry which
were finished on the 8th August.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>On the 17th August I stated my next
regiment which is the 2nd Dragoon (Scots Greys) but due to the
English football season starting, they have been on the back burner while I
sorted out my football competition to get it up and running. Although we have
had another lockdown for four weeks in November, things have not changed much
as we are in yet another lockdown as the virus picks up in numbers in the UK.
But now that the Christmas and New Year period are over, it’s my intentions
this year is to finish off the 2nd Dragoon (Scots Greys) and
complete some odds and ends that have been stored away for many years. I will
also like to start painting some more new regiments but we will see what
happens.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">Now if you follow my blog
then you will know that I do not do any pre-painting list for the coming year,
so no New Year resolutions from me once again. If you look at my performance last
year it was one of the best years that I have had on my blog with postings. </span><span style="font-family: times;">So thank you for looking at
my blog but hope that this year even more posts will be posted once again.</span></p><p></p>General Reevehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192104069618143683noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8853155833487877670.post-85979725681386335552020-12-31T11:58:00.002+00:002021-01-04T16:49:15.255+00:00Last Post of 2020<p style="text-align: center;"> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-g7-Lah20-Hb5HpNUpaP8Y7Turki9COe6_BqpdGnJyLQI0idasWGHoiqBIGlmcdpET1G5FgQJTVoh42NU1Gp5Gd8L9HT7H37ZJqVT0fYs7d_TbvSiimrVwrjPvjhn4-Q_Tn1459S5Rxu9/s2048/000_0222+%25282%2529.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1226" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-g7-Lah20-Hb5HpNUpaP8Y7Turki9COe6_BqpdGnJyLQI0idasWGHoiqBIGlmcdpET1G5FgQJTVoh42NU1Gp5Gd8L9HT7H37ZJqVT0fYs7d_TbvSiimrVwrjPvjhn4-Q_Tn1459S5Rxu9/s320/000_0222+%25282%2529.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">I had ordered a couple of items

Precision and the kit comes unpainted. This is going to be my next project at
some point in my life. I already have the British soldiers from Esci and their
Zulu’s but as HaT have brought out a very large range of Zulu War figures and they
are good looking figures, I was just going to do the battle of Rorkes Driff but that might not be enough now. Suddenly Isandlwana
is now looking even better. That is why I brought some arid grass tuffs.<o:p></o:p></span></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOW5QGwMjm0hB7J-uXOFNa_FQH2cVApH_W_n6nHlbmCVrOv8EpkzFJScThf58wqVzjYHH67MSdTz2ziGUgTRBntg0scAgc5t1cnbiQtwdmsc9WLkfJbn06QayU-WWCrG2KgkoGz3Z98Ia7/s640/Rorkes+Driff+Set.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="506" data-original-width="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOW5QGwMjm0hB7J-uXOFNa_FQH2cVApH_W_n6nHlbmCVrOv8EpkzFJScThf58wqVzjYHH67MSdTz2ziGUgTRBntg0scAgc5t1cnbiQtwdmsc9WLkfJbn06QayU-WWCrG2KgkoGz3Z98Ia7/s320/Rorkes+Driff+Set.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is how I would like it to look</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p>General Reevehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14192104069618143683noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8853155833487877670.post-7703564165703042382020-12-23T11:42:00.001+00:002020-12-23T11:42:47.021+00:00Merry Christmas from the General<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd1kz_fmh5KDlHa878nBdVe40zwD80dEny5-FAwZTvkxARK-nhDhRBoiYdgmsel74vs12PotB33QBQlKHidydjMIKYBi4Pe64vOanRDcjFCLBGN8RtAF3kNQvw5OOyXgrgonR2mwU_Ctap/s600/MerryChristmas.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd1kz_fmh5KDlHa878nBdVe40zwD80dEny5-FAwZTvkxARK-nhDhRBoiYdgmsel74vs12PotB33QBQlKHidydjMIKYBi4Pe64vOanRDcjFCLBGN8RtAF3kNQvw5OOyXgrgonR2mwU_Ctap/s320/MerryChristmas.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: times;">This year it has been a very
